LONDON, Tuesday 8 April 2025 – The International Securities Lending Association (ISLA), a leading industry trade association representing the common interests of securities financing market participants across EMEA, announces that after twelve years at ISLA, Andrew Dyson, Chief Executive Officer, has decided to step down from his role.
This announcement follows a lengthy period of proactive discussions between Andy and the ISLA Board of Directors, who given his extensive career as well as his tenure at the Association, fully support his decision and the desire to pursue other interests.
Andy joined ISLA in 2013 as Chief Operating Officer, later becoming CEO in 2016. Over his tenure, he has been instrumental in providing and implementing a strong strategic vision for the Association, leading to its continued growth in both size and geographical footprint, and very much shaping the Association that ISLA is today. Through effective leadership, maintaining close relationships with senior member firm representatives, as well as developing strong ties with key regulators and policy makers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Andy has continued to play a truly ambassadorial role within an ever-evolving securities finance landscape. From the perspective of advocacy, and in pursuit of creating a more deep and liquid capital markets ecosystem on behalf of our members and the wider industry, many important milestones have been achieved, including the positive changes to the legislative text on the initial implementation of the Securities Finance Transaction Regulation (SFTR). More recently, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of our affiliate entity, ISLA Americas. This landmark milestone was the culmination of a long-term ambition to provide a unified voice for the industry across EMEA and the Americas. The industry has evolved dramatically during Andy’s tenure and under his guidance, ISLA has evolved with it.
Andy commented, “When I joined ISLA in 2013, I could not have imagined the journey that we would embark upon to where we are today. As I look in a different direction personally, I am proud to have led this organisation during its most transformative years and I would like to take this moment to thank the group here for their support for everything that we do at the Association. It has been an unforgettable twelve years.”
Ina Budh-Raja, Chair of the Board, commented, “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Andy for his outstanding commitment and contribution to ISLA, its members, and the wider industry. Andy has been a pillar of our industry for many years, and it has been a privilege to work alongside him to advocate and push forward our industry. I look forward to working with Andy over the coming period to minimise disruption and ensure the organisation continues to offer market leading support to its members.”
Andy will remain in the role for the foreseeable time and will continue to work closely with the ISLA Management Team and Board on delivering the agreed near-term strategy for the Association. At the same time, he is supporting the Board in the formal process to identify his successor, with the assistance of an external executive search agency.
More details will be shared in due course, in the meantime, please join the Board of Directors and ISLA team in thanking Andy for all his efforts and the best for his future endeavours.
