Common Domain Model (CDM)

The purpose of this document is to provide a technical overview of how to use the objects and functions in the CDM to negotiate a new business event. The example we use is the negotiation of a new trade execution. The document covers four common scenarios found in real world trade negotiations, providing example JSON (valid for CDM version 4.0.0-dev.4) for each step of the workflow.

This document is a detailed overview of the CDM Code Generator Workshop organised and sponsored by The International Securities Lending Association (ISLA). Participants were set the task of creating a new Code Generator that could translate the CDM Rosetta format into valid JSON Schema. The resultant code and associated documentation would then be contributed back to the CDM GitHub repository for use by the community.

This document provides an assessment of the coverage in the CDM for the products, events and legal documentation required to support a securities Lending trade throughout its lifecycle.

The purpose of this document is to present a business case on how the CDM can be used to resolve some of the issues found in the trade execution processes used today. The CDM is a freely available Open Source model maintained by the Fintech Open Source Foundation (FINOS). It can be used to model financial products and events, supplying business logic and functions that manage a trade’s lifecycle as it transitions from one state to another.
