Staffan is the head of Collateral+ offering collateral services to State Street clients. Collateral+ provides tri party, collateral administration and collateral analytics to the market. The services are modular based tailored in particular to the buy side community. This unit is part of the Financing and Collateral Solutions team within State Street Global Markets.
Staffan joined State Street from BNY Mellon where he ran the international tri party business. He joined BNY Mellon in 1998, playing a major role in the build-out of its tri party business as well as managing the clearing business for EMEA. Prior to BNY Mellon, Staffan worked at Northern Trust in their Investment Manager Liaison Group.
Staffan has a master’s degree in economics from Umea University and postgraduate degree in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics. He has also spent time at the Norwegian School of Economics.

Miles has been Global Lead of the IT Business Analysis team for Regulatory Reporting at Credit Suisse Investment Banking since the early days of Dodd-Frank, delivering Derivatives reporting across all major jurisdictions, as well as MiFID II/MiFIR for all products.
Hands-on experience of turning legalistic regulatory text into unambiguous logic and data definitions inspired him to search for a clearer approach.
He made significant contributions to the FCA/Bank of England DRR pilots in 2018 and 2019, leading the Derivatives work stream and demonstrating real-time regulatory logic change. He also contributed to the Business Case and Mortgages Data Modelling deliverables.
In 2022 he is active on the Bank of England’s “transforming Data Collection” initiative, sitting on the Design Advisory group, and contributing to the design of solutions for Derivatives and Commercial Real Estate Reporting.
He currently sits on the ISDA CDM Architecture and Review Committee, the Global Derivatives DRR Oversight Committee, and the Global Derivatives DRR Architecture Working Group. He is also coding using ISDA CDM as part of the Global Derivatives DRR EMIR Refit Pilot.

Gesa Johannsen is the EMEA Head of Clearance and Collateral Management Business at BNY Mellon reporting the CEO of the Business. She joined BNY Mellon in 2013 as a leader in the product management for the Collateral Management Business.
As a member of the Clearance and Collateral Management ExCo, Gesa leads the business strategy for the triparty collateral management business, with a collateral franchise of more than $5 trillion assets on the platform, as well as the strategy for the International Clearance Business of BNY Mellon. Her product strategy team drives the business strategy as well as the product implementation roadmap with technology.
Gesa is a key leader in the Clearance and Collateral Business and was appointed the EMEA Business Head in September 2020. Since then, she is responsible for driving growth in the EMEA region where she leads the sales and relationship management team as well as the governance & controls team. In her role as EMEA Business Lead, Gesa maintains critical oversight of the business’ regional regulatory obligations, operating in BNY Mellon SA/NV and the BNY Mellon London Branch.
Gesa has over 25 years industry experience. Prior to joining BNY Mellon in 2013, she worked at Eurex Clearing, Europe’s largest central counterparty clearing house (CCP), where she was Head of Derivatives Clearing Business Development and with responsibility for the Business and Product Strategy of the clearing house across listed and OTC-Derivatives. Through her role at Eurex Clearing, she has extensive experience in collateral management and segregation solutions for centrally cleared products. Gesa has also previously held senior roles at KPMG and Deutsche Bank.
In addition to her executive leadership roles in the Clearance & Collateral Business, Gesa has joined the Board of ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association) in January 2021, taking an active role to support ISDA’s strategic goals to foster safe and efficient derivatives markets.
In Europe, Gesa represents BNY Mellon in the Eurosystem Advisory Group on Market Infrastructures for Securities and Collateral where she is Chair of the Collateral Harmonisation Task Force for Europe. She has happily taken the lead for this mandate as she is passionate about the European Capital Markets Union project and has been actively involved in cross-industry working groups with European regulators for many years.
Gesa is passionate about BNY Mellon’s Diversity and Inclusion agenda and is the Co-Lead for GenEdge Germanys well as a member of the Women’s Initiative Network. Gesa is engaged in mentoring of next generation executives within BNY Mellon and the financial services industry.
Gesa is an economics and business graduate of the University in Cologne, Germany. She is based in Frankfurt, playing a global role in the Clearance and Collateral Management Business. She is mother of two wonderful girls, ages 13 and 16. As time permits, she is passionate about outdoor sports such as Mountain-Biking, Hiking and Skiing.

Until 2011, Sarah worked at Aviva Investors, the asset manager of one of the largest European insurance and pension companies, for over 25 years. Sarah’s role at Aviva Investors as Global Director of Securities Finance meant she was responsible for trading desks and operational teams across the globe.
During this time Sarah worked with the insurance and pension board members and trustees to establish risk budgets and appropriate trading stategies in line with fund objectives and performance requirements. Sarah also developed policy frameworks for a number of business lines within the company which ensured a consistent and risk controlled delivery across all markets and products.
It was during this time that Sarah gained extensive knowledge of securities finance, collateral management, securities and derivative operational processes and risk management.
Alongside representing the company at numerous associations such as the NAPF and the IMA, Sarah was a board member of ISLA, the European wide trade association for securities finance, for over twelve years.
As well as providing broader market consultancy, Sarah continued to work for ISLA until 2019 as an independent consultant, liaising with market participants to establish regulatory responses and market practices.
As a director of the Consolo Training Academy, Sarah now provides industry training for financial services and fund management and includes investment banks, beneficial owners, and asset managers as past and present clients.

Tom is currently responsible for digital initiatives, ranging from the use of DLT to achieve zero break processing in Agency Securities Financing, through to digital and tokenized assets to be used as collateral. Prior to focusing on digital strategy, Tom was responsible for delivery of the SFTR reporting solution within Agency Securities Financing.

Prior to joining AFME, he was engaged with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, where he worked on financial reporting, auditing and financial sector issues. The success of this initial study has led to a strategic focus by ISLA into the future digitisation of our industry and David joined the team as a permanent member of staff in January 2021 to lead these efforts.
As part of Regulation and Market Practice team, David is responsible for the development and implementation of a Securities Lending Common Domain Model, digital infrastructure, and the ongoing transformation and monitoring of the digital landscape of the Securities Lending market.

Within this role, Val leads efforts to identify opportunities to enhance the services to meet the evolving operational and regulatory compliance needs of DTCC’s global client base as well as helps the firm to innovate around the core principles of automation, standardization and utilization.
Additionally, Val is the Regional Administrative Manager for DTCC EMEA, and Chairman of the DTCC EMEA Operating Committee. He is also the Executive Sponsor of DTCC’s Women’s Initiative for Networking and Success (WINS).
Prior to joining DTCC, Val served as Global Head of Markets Post Trade Services and Europe Markets Operations at Barclays, with oversight for derivatives, securities, futures and clearing. There, he was responsible for the implementation of a strategic global operational model to provide improved service capabilities to clients and internal businesses as well as the design and delivery of an enhanced strategic architecture to achieve automation, process improvement and risk management objectives.
